Bodhisattva Vows
Hevajra / Nairatmya Empowerment
bestowed by H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang
The Hevajra Tantra - also known as the "King of the Tantras", one of the most important Tantras of the highest Yoga Tantra - has been brought in the 2nd century by the Acharya Nagarjuna from the secret cave of the Vajra Dakini in Oddiyana into the human realm. Then it started to spread in India. In Tibet there are two famous traditions of practice transmission of this tantra, the Sakyapa tradition, that goes back to Virupa and was brought to Tibet by Drogmi, and the Kagyupa tradition, that goes back to Naropa and was brought to Tibet by Marpa Lotsawa. H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang is holding both traditions.
Marpa Lotsawa came three times to India and studied mainly under the spiritual guidance of Maha Pandita Naropa and Maitripa. He received teachings on the Chakrasamvara-, Hevajra- and Guhyasamaja-tantra and got instructions, empowerments and text transmissions mainly of the Annuttara Tantra, which he spread lateron in Tibet.
At the end of the text it is mentioned that the root tantra Tak Ney and the commentary Gur-gi-Shing of the Hevajra tantra, both composed by Marpa Lotsawa, have been written down during his stay at the University of Vikramashila. Both have been kept secret for a great many years and are now being opened for the benefit of beings.
The Empowerment and Teaching on Hevajra / Nairatma will be according to the Empowerment of the Kagyu Nag-Zod and the Sadhana, composed by Marpa, called Gur-gi-Sog-Shing.
